Scott Higginbotham in hunt for Reds' starting role

HEAVY-hitting Scott Higginbotham can force a starting role in Queensland's Super 14 plans by playing the bully-boy back-rower against Auckland Blues in today's trial in Auckland.
Higginbotham's timing, training form and extra maturity have been impressive during the off-season since his blooding as a wet-behind-the-ears rookie in five Super 14 games last season.
He also fits the bill in terms of size - an athletic 112kg - for the huge challenge of confronting the massive Bulls pack in Pretoria in the Super 14 opener on February 14.

The rapid rise of Wallabies winger Peter Hynes has boom Reds scrumhalf Ben Lucas daring to dream of international honours as he prepares for his maiden outing in 2009.
Lucas will get his first taste of rugby for the year tomorrow night when he comes off the bench for the Reds in their challlenging trial against the Blues in Auckland.
