Sydney put in an impressive performance but it's clear they need a proven goalscorer to capitalise on the great work being done everywhere else on the field. The defence looked strong and confident and played it out of trouble and into attack with ease. They were rarely flustered. The midfield dominated for the entire game and created chances...but there was just no-one who could deliver the finish they so badly needed. Urawa were a worthy opponent, but Sydney bettered them. Former striker puts boot into Sydney

Central Coast Mariners rained on Sydney FC’s opening match of the season, snatching a 1-0 victory in the New South Wales local derby.

Former Sydney FC striker Sasho Petrovski marked his return to Sydney Football Stadium with his 6th-minute goal, which was enough to send the three points to Gosford. Sydney FC could have snatched a draw late in the match but were thwarted by Central Coast Mariners goalkeeper Danny Vukovic.

Junior Pelesasa joins the Western force

The Western Force is pleased to announce that Queensland Reds outside centre Junior Pelesasa has agreed to join the team on a 2 year contract.
