Steve Mackinnon - Kick Boxing
Steve Mackinnon is pound for pound, one of the best kick boxers in the World. Weighing in at 95kgs, Steve won the prestigious WBC Muay Thai Super Cruiser Weight title in Jamaica in June 08. After a punishing performance against number 1 ranked Dutchman Ashwin Balark, Steve well and truly stamped his mark in the world of kick boxing.
Born in Scotland, Steve started practising karate as a 4yr old. He gained his black belt at an incredible age of 9 and by then, he had already competed in over 100 semi contact bouts. His interested shifted to muay thai when he was 13 and started his full contact kick boxing bouts when he was 16.
Trained by his brother Stuart in Bull Dog Gym Sydney, Steve’s lightening left high kick and vicious left elbow are truly world class weapons. His professional record of 36 fights 32wins with 27 KO speaks for his destructive qualities. He is feared by fighters around the world for his relentless cross range fighting. His endless stamina and consistent pressure makes him a very difficult opponent to fight against.
He has fought in Las Vegas, Thailand, New Zealand, Jamaica and Australia and he is looking to hit the big time in K-1 in Japan. His fight with Nathan ‘Carnage’ Corbett was known as the best kick boxing bout in Australian history.
